Dear Longview Family,

As we are experiencing the start of the greatest year yet in the history of Longview ISD, I wanted to tell each of you that a time of transition has arrived for myself and family. Jan and I have treasured our service to the Longview area, but it is time to explore future adventures.

In order to provide our Board of Trustees ample time to set the future direction of LISD, Jan and I are announcing my retirement on December 31, 2025.

You have all been part of a great movement in LISD and the direction of public education in Texas. Your accomplishments are far too numerous to mention in this letter, but your place as the only K-12 public school in the United States with an International Baccalaureate education available to all students on all campuses in the district is truly exceptional.

Our LIFT Programs and TIA Incentives make our teachers the highest paid in East Texas and they are truly deserving.

The next leader will have a truly great team to work with to move to even greater heights. The Board of Trustees that you have elected to represent LISD have done a remarkable job of providing vision, leadership, and concern for every child that choses to make LISD their educational home. It has been an honor to serve and work with them to prepare your child for being a life-long learner.

I will give every ounce of leadership and caring to our students until my last day with LISD. Our goal was to provide the Board of Trustees with a time-line that provides them with ample opportunity to search and select the next leader for LISD.

Jan and I will remain in Longview, as this is our home and we love it! I want the parents of our students to know that I truly do appreciate them sharing their most prized possession and God's greatest gift to us all, their children.
